August is a fantastic month to begin to sow seeds and prepare for harvest later on in the year and spring. Planting this time of year will allow the plant to absorb some lovely sunshine and warmth before the colder weather sets in.

Although, If you are still eager to keep your harvesting season going, veg like radishes and salad leaves will provide a quick crop.

Spring Onion

Spring onion prefers the cooler temperatures, so planting in August and September will make for a lovely harvest in spring.

(Spring onions are great to grow in containers if you are short for space)

Kale

Kale is good one to sow this month to ensure it has enough time to mature and survive the colder months.

Spinach

Spinach can be grown towards the end of August going in September for harvest in October and then into spring.

Radish
