Café Team Leader
We are looking for an energetic person to work as a Team Leader in our fantastic team at the Bell Plantation Café to support the management team in the day to day running of the cafe.
Located within the Bell Plantation Garden Centre at Towcester, the Cafe is open Mon-Sat 9.00-17.00 and Sunday 10.00-16.00. We do not require you to work evenings or split shifts, unless for special events.
Within the Café all our food is made to order, we offer a range of cooked breakfasts, sandwiches, hot food and daily specials.
The right candidate will have proven experience in the hospitality industry, this role requires you to support the management team in the day to day running of the cafe, the right candidate must also be capable of leading the cafe team at super busy times in an efficient manner. Excellent customer service skills essential. We want to work with someone keen to develop with good attitude and behaviour..

Café Assistant
We are looking for energetic people to join our fantastic team at the Bell Plantation Café on a part time basis who can support the café team during the week and also at weekends. Immediate Start.
This role would be suitable for any one with Front of house experience in a similar role, although experience is not essential as attitude and behaviour rate higher.

Head Chef
We are currently recruiting for a Head Chef with a zest for creating exciting menus inspired by seasonal & local produce.
Set in a beautiful location in Towcester we have an upmarket Spacious 350 covers restaurant, serving seasonal fresh foods as well as great coffee! This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to come on board at the development stage of this project and to actively be involved and shape the future direction of the restaurant.
The Head Chef will lead the back of house hospitality team and will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to control the ‘financials’ of the restaurant including the achievement of budgeted sales, margins and the control of costs, as well as offering excellent food to exceptional standards.
The Head Chef will be responsible for the following:
- Recruitment and induction of all kitchen staff
- Managing the kitchen team on a day to day basis
- Setting up the kitchen and advising on catering requirements
- Working with the Restaurant Manager to create an exciting menu using regional and seasonal produce where possible
- Ensuring all relevant legislation and systems and controls in relation to health and safety and food hygiene are strictly adhered to at all times
- Achieving a profitable business within budgetary constraints
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- A passion for creating exciting food and striving for continuous improvement
- Previous experience of working as a Head Chef in a large operation and previous experience of supervising a kitchen team
- A proven track record of managing budgetary control including portion control, wastage and ingredient costings
- Experience of maintaining excellent systems in relation to stock ordering, rotation and monitoring
- Have a good working knowledge of working with national & regional suppliers
- A commitment to drive and maintain excellent quality standards
- An ability to demonstrate first class planning, team working and communication skills
- Previous experience of setting up a new restaurant operation would be advantageous
This is a full-time role working 40 hours a week (Majority daytime only).
The operation will run 7 days a week and there is therefore it is a core requirement to be able to work flexibly, including working weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. Minimum evening work is required.
Chef
We are looking for a Chef to work in our kitchen team here at Bell Plantation Café.
The right candidate enjoys producing fresh and delicious food in a very efficient manner.
We want to hear from you if you can bring ideas, leadership, creativity, enthusiasm and energy to our already lively and busy kitchen.
The role requires you to prepare and create a range of hot and cold dishes to order for our Café customers, you’ll follow the menu plan to a very high standard and deliver the food within agreed time periods in line with food hygiene law.
We expect our Chefs to take responsibility for the ordering, cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen, planning and production of all food on offer.
The role offers a fantastic work life balance with the Café open 9am – 5.30pm with some weekend work required. No split shifts and no evenings required.

The Café has around 140 covers with plans to expand this to nearly 240 covers in spring 2020 with the addition of a brand new 150sqm kitchen. The role therefore offers excellent development opportunities for the right candidate.
Restaurant Manager
We are looking for a restaurant manager to manage and oversee the expansion and operation of our busy restaurant including a new soft play centre.
To be successful in this post you will have the experience to lead a vibrant team, with a passion for being part of a team, providing exciting, regional food and outstanding customer service.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to come on board at an exciting stage of the development of our business and to be actively involved and shape the future direction of the restaurant operation. Our restaurant is expanding from 140 covers to nearly 250 with the addition of a soft play centre with a further 100 covers.
As well as the management and development of staff, the post holder will work closely with the Head Chef as part of a team directly responsible for the ‘financials’ of the restaurant including the achievement of budgeted sales, margins and the control of costs.
The restaurant manager will be responsible for the following:
- Recruitment, induction and training and development of all front of house staff.
- Managing all aspects of the restaurant operations on a day to day basis including people management and service provision.
- Working with the Head Chef to create an exciting menu using regional and seasonal produce where possible.
- Ensuring an efficient and pleasurable experience for all customers and work colleagues.
- Ensuring all relevant legislation and policies in relation to health and safety, food hygiene and people management are strictly adhered to.
- Achieving a profitable business within budgetary constraints
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Previous experience of running a similar restaurant operation involving a team of at least 20 staff.
- A working knowledge of budgetary control and putting in place effective mechanisms to achieve this.
- A proactive attitude and an ability to lead and engage a team in a busy work environment.
- Excellent planning and communication skills.
- This is a full-time role working a 40 hour week.

This is a lovely and judging by the building work going on, ever expanding nursery with associated businesses around the site. These include a pet shop, vintage collectors store, hot tubs, clothing and a good cafe. They had an Amazing selection of plants and the biggest display of succulents I have seen when I visited in September but some of the plant display had been given over to many Christmas display counters. Also have a lovely selection of gifts, vases, outdoor clothing etc.Outside there are many more plants and also live poultry if you fancy having fresh eggs every day.Overall one of the best nurseries in the area and well worth a visit.

A fantastic garden centre. Staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Nothing is to much, they will spend time with you showing you round the plants to get just what you need with plenty of advice given. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited for lunch yesterday. Café excellent. However, I was then overcharged for an item in The Shoe cabin's supposed sale. The cashier actually wrote a higher price on the tag, explaining that the existing price of £31.00 was 'a mistake'...She then wrote £44.00 on the tag before applying the sale discount!! I don't believe that this is legal? My friend and I were stunned with disbelief!

If you have not yet visited you are missing out! This is a fantastic place to go and explore. The garden centre has a great range of plants fro sure but this place offers much more. A poultry centre where you can view all types of poultry up close and buy some for your own supply of eggs! The cafe is tastefully created using old reclaimed brick and offers a great range of food and drinks. Then there are the other shops on site ranging from a wedding shop to a reptile centre where you often see snakes out in the open!

A our first visit to the Bell Plantation Garden Centre. Ideal place to stop for food and refreshments as it is located on a major road. Staff were very friendly and polite. Food was very good and well prepared. The beetroot spinach quiche was full of flavour. We sat outside but our bench didn't have a parasol and it got very hot and difficult to see as the white table reflected the sun light.

Interesting place with a wide variety of small independent unusual retail outlets selling everything from second hand bargains to chickens. Well worth a visit for an hour or two with plenty of free parking and a nice cafeteria for refreshments

I love it at Bells. Gorgeous courtyard selling beautiful plants, a great Cafe and antiques shop and the Farm Shop sells yummy food, fresh meat and vegetables. Worth an afternoon out.
