Investing in solar at Bell Plantation
Bell Plantation Invests in Solar Energy to Power a Greener Future
Here at Bell Plantation Garden Centre we’ve taken another significant step in sustainability with the installation of a 131kWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) system. generating approximately 116,400kWh of clean electricity each year. The installation is expected to save around 22.5 tonnes of CO₂ annually, the environmental equivalent of planting more than 1,000 trees every year or enough power for 28, 4 bed houses per year.
The new system takes the total solar power at Bell Plantation to 298kWp along with 373 kw of renewable heating which heats 96% of the site.
The solar panels will help power the garden centre’s daily operations while significantly reducing reliance on grid electricity. By generating renewable energy on-site, Bell Plantation will cut both energy costs and carbon emissions, supporting its long-term commitment to responsible environmental practices.
The project forms part of the garden centre’s wider efforts to reduce its environmental impact while continuing to provide a destination for gardeners, families and visitors across Northamptonshire and beyond.
Director Jethro Warren said:
“Investing in solar energy is an important step for us as a business. As a garden centre, we care deeply about the environment and generating our own renewable electricity allows us to reduce our carbon footprint while also making our operations more sustainable for the future.”
We enjoyed working with Geo Green Power, one of the UK’s leading renewable energy installers, designed and installed the system.
