Karen visited Towcester primary school to run an interactive workshop on planting sunflowers, this was to assist year 3 in their project of writing instructions.

The children learned about planting seeds, how they germinate and how to look after them whilst they are growing.

The teachers will be judging the tallest sunflower by the end of the summer term and the winner will receive a kids gardening bundle.

We at Bell Plantation want to inspire the next generation to love gardening, not only is it great for both mental and physical health but can generate a healthy hobby for life. Meet Charlotte, a ceramic maker based in the heart of Northamptonshire, specialising in flower preservation. @charlotteceramics

Charlotte uses real plants and flowers to get the most amazing textures into her bespoke ceramic pieces. Many of the flowers that she uses are grown in her own garden from seed. The whole nurturing process of growing a plant and watching it bloom is extremely rewarding. Then, to preserve it forever into the work feels extra special.

The availability of flowers change as each season progresses – but that’s the beauty of incorporating nature with ceramics. The results can sometimes be unpredictable, but this adds to the excitement of how a piece will turn out.

Ever fancied having a go at making your own piece of work out of clay? You can!

Whether you are looking to come along in a group (perhaps a hen party), or want to come alone and meet other creatives, everyone is welcome. Suitable for children aged 7+.

This pottery workshop will be focusing on making a ceramic tea light house, using the hand building technique. Suitable for beginners as well as anyone who has experience working with clay. You will be encouraged to get creative and use your imagination, to create a piece that is unique to you, handmade in your own style. This will not be a pottery class where everyone makes the exact same shape & design – go wild!
